It’s official: Autumn has arrived. The air is crisp, the leaves are changing, and the cafes have rolled out their pumpkin-flavored drinks. Now that it’s a little cooler, you may be looking for fun activities to do with family and friends. With the help of Sunrise Senior Living, we have put together a few activities that seniors can do with their families.
- Visit an orchard. Apple orchards are hopping with activity this time of year. Wander through the trees selecting your own apples, or simply go and purchase a bag of those already picked. Sample some cider and smell the delicious confections that orchards love to bake. When you get home, join your friends in using those fresh apples to bake a pie. It is certain to make your kitchen smell like autumn.
- Go to a craft sale. It seems that autumn brings along not only apples but also crafts. Check the newspaper or ask around for various sales. Peruse the creations that others have made and chat with some of the creators. This is also an excellent time to begin holiday shopping.
- Walk through nature. Take full advantage of the beauty of the season by strolling through the woods. Snap some photos of particularly stunning trees and maybe even collect a few leaves to bring back the fall colors to your home.
It is time to enjoy the loveliness of fall before winter creeps up on us. So take advantage of the days and fill your time with the sights and smells of autumn with the people you love the most.
